My name is Julia. I am a mother, wife, daughter, sister, friend, graphic designer, 3rd grade helper, writer, driver, counselor, nurse, baker, chocoholic and hugger. I have been blessed beyond measure. I have an amazing family that my life revolves around. We’ve been through a lot together and we’re a pretty loud and crazy bunch, but there’s the love that makes life incredibly wonderful. I am married to my very best friend and I believe I’m the luckiest girl in the world to have him. He reminds me every day that life is incredibly beautiful and happiness is a choice. His professional life has centered around being his own boss, a political junkie, and most recently, having a “twin” business partner that happens to be a start-up junkie too. We’ve owned several businesses and had a few great jobs in our married life, and my favorites are the ones we worked together.
There are five young ones we have had the pleasure of raising that are growing up and turning into really great people. They’re very talented, creative, kind, and my whole world. Our oldest daughter, Sarah is a fighter and my hero. She was born with a complicated heart that was replaced through the miracle of organ donation when she was 19. Her journey has touched countless lives and changed me into who I am today. Our second daughter, Rachel is my sunshine girl. Her smile lights up the room and her goodness shines from within. She is a gifted musician and has the ability—through her music and her heart—to leave people better than she finds them. Our first son, Bryson is a really extraordinary kid. He was diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome (an autism spectrum disorder) when he was in 3rd grade, but if you met him now, you’d never know it. You’d see a mostly quiet, obedient, very talented artist with a gift of seeing the world through a different lens. He never misses a beautiful sunset and sees the good in everyone. He has grown and changed so much, I am amazed at his abilities and so proud of his accomplishments. Our 4th kid, Joshua is sensitive beyond my comprehension. He has a deep love and respect for spiritual things and the beauties of nature. He feels deeply and loves completely. Our youngest son, Nathan is a very colorful kid with personality oozing out his ears. He has added so much laughter and life to our home. He’s a master of disguise, student of comedy, cuddle buddy extraordinaire, and arachnid lover. (Ick.)
So, this is us. We’re silly and weird. We love to laugh. We love to play. Sometimes things in life are hard, and we don’t love that. But we love that we get to do it together. We’ve learned that together we’re strong. And that life is good.
